Douglas Barrie Philip "Phil" Gormley is the current Chief Constable of Police Scotland.

He began his career in 1985 with Thames Valley Police Force, reaching Superindendent. In 1999 he became Chief Superindendent, commander of operations for the Southern Oxfordshire division. From 2003 Phil became more focussed on firearms, terrorism and airport security and was secretary for the Association of Chief Police Officer‘s Terrorism and Allied Matters Committee 2005-2006. There he was involved in overseeing two undercover policing units, Special Demonstration Squad and the National Public Order Intelligence Unit respectively. At the same time he was responsible for the merger of the Metropolitan Police Special Branch and Anti-Terrorism Branch to form Counter Terrorism Command. From 2007-10 he became Deputy Chief Constable, West Midlands Police; and from 2010-13 he became Chief Constable, Norfolk Constabulary. Prior to joining Police Scotland he was Deputy Director General, National Crime Agency from 2013. In 2012 he was awarded the Queen's Police Medal.

He was sworn in to his present positon on 5 January 2016.
